Infant Feeding

Several feeding practices that may contribute to infant obesity occurs when an infant takes in more calories than the body can use. Obesity can also be linked to hormonal disorders, but this is rare. Obesity is typically caused from poor dieting and lifestyle choices. When an infant is overfed or given high calorie beverages, then they are launching bad habits that can remain with them for life. Other foods related causes include using food as a stress reliever or reward, the use of food as a problem solving mechanism, and the lack of physical activity. Research has established that very young children who struggle with food related issues at an early age often carry these patterns with them into adulthood. Some other causes of infant obesity includes the usage of corticosterioid drugs, family histories of overweight and obesity, as well as abnormal eating patterns.

Healthy Eating and Exercising

The things that prevent me from healthy eating and exercising is stressing and just being lazy. I try to exercise with co-workers but I procrastinate. I do try to work-out once or twice a week. Sometimes my husband don't make it any better because he bring a lot of snacks in the house that I like and it is hard to push it aside. The last couple of month I have been controlling my portions of food and incorporating more vegetables and fruits in my lunches. I have always served a pretty balance dinner with a vegetable, starch, and meat for my family. I am not a big soda drinker. I like to drink a lot of water and sometimes juice. I am hoping to continue on the right path so I can be healthy for myself and my family.

Daily Health Assessments

Daily health assessments should occur on a daily because it allows the teacher to learn more about the child or children. Some children have health problems that need to be evaluated everyday in order for them to succeed in class. By doing daily assessments on children it gives the teacher the right tools on how they can get the proper help for the child weather it be a hearing, vision, or speech and language evaluation. It all serves a purpose for the benefit of the child and also for the parents. Sometimes parents over look things that can effect their child in the future. Then you have parents who are in denial about the problems they child may have. When a child has a proper assessment, they succeed better in school and with other playmates.

Childhood Memory of Eating with Someone

When I was about five or six years old I started eating mayo sandwiches and my mother would make them for me everyday when I came home from school. I would set at the kitchen window with my mom as she read her paper and I would go to town on that sandwich. I enjoyed those moments with my mother as a child become as I got older my mother and I was not as close as we were when I was younger, so I really loved being with her and to this day I still remind her of it.
